Kalaiselvan hails from the Fort city Vellore India; he has been practising Occupational therapy from the year 2007. He completed his bachelor’s degree in Occupational therapy from the Christian Medical College and Hospital, did his master’s degree in Occupational therapy specialised in orthopaedics from the Kovai Medical College and hospital, both programs under “The Tamil Nadu Dr M.G.R. Medical University”, Chennai, India.

He is a Fully registered Occupational therapist with The Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) Singapore and has worked across different disability sectors such as mainstream schools both in primary and secondary education, Voluntary Welfare Organisation’s, community settings, infant and toddler program etc., in Singapore for over seven years. He likes to keep his sessions lively and enjoys spending time with young children.

Kalai has a keen interest in developmental disabilities and early intervention. He has a strong belief in being child led and family-centred; he prefers to understand children through play and observations in their natural environments. Kalai skilfully applies the most appropriate approaches in the areas of sensory integration-based therapy, Routines-based intervention and Play. He has received formal training on Assistive Technology from the RESNA (Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America). He strongly advocates Occupation based treatment approaches as he is MOHO (Model of Human Occupation) based therapist and he applies these approaches to address the day to day challenges that present in the lives of young and adolescent children with special needs and their caregivers.
